about
This arrangement of "Clapping Music," originally for two hand clappers, is for seven pairs of hand clappers. It begins with two players, then a pair of clappers is added one measure at a time through measure seven. One pair of clappers is then subtracted in each measure until the final measure, which concludes with the original two players. This process of addition and subtraction gives the piece an arch-form structure.

Harmonies, moods, rhythms interplay and interlock on R/R. Further, Reich's composition accompanying Richter's visual components lift the mind out of its over sheltered habitat and immerses it into a realm of everpresence and divine longing. spicyinvalid
